Meteors top Sabers, Foresters

The Montrose Area boys’ basketball team took a 66-55 win over Susquehanna at home on Friday night after it grabbed a 56-44 victory overForestCityat a home game on Tuesday evening.

Against Susquehanna, the Meteors got ahead quickly as the team led Susquehanna 20-11 by the end of the first and controlled the game 26-21 at halftime.

In the third, the Meteors outscored Susquehanna 14-13 and then capped off the win with a 26-21 run in the fourth quarter.

Tom Lewis scored 32 points to lead the Meteors while Corey Adams added 14 and Lance Nealy had seven points.

The Sabers were led by Cole Mallery’s 17 points while Andrzej Tomczyk had 15 and Austin Cowperthwait scored nine.

On Tuesday, the Meteors got ahead 18-10 after the first and held a 30-14 lead by halftime.

After the break, the Meteors pacedForestCity13-11 in the third, and after a 19-13 run fromForestCityin the fourth, Montrose took the win.

Lewis led the way for Montrose with 19 points while Colby Major added 14 and Adams had 10.

Dave Cavalieri had 12 points for the Foresters while Noah Fedak scored nine and Dylan Walsh had eight.

Blue Ridge

The Blue Ridge boys’ basketball team took a 46-42 win over East Stroudsburg Notre Dame on Saturday at the University of Scranton Long Center, was handed a 61-37 loss from Lackawanna Trail at home on Friday, and took a 71-52 victory over Mountain View at home on Tuesday.

Against Notre Dame, the Raiders fell behind 13-5 after the first, and trailed Notre Dame 26-22 at halftime.

However, a 16-8 run in the third helped the Raiders take the lead and after each team scored eight in the fourth,Blue Ridgetook the win.

Jesse Pruitt scored 19 points and had 12 rebounds to leadBlue Ridgewhile Alex Cardoza had 11 points and Jake Hinkley scored six.

On Friday, the Lions took a 13-8 lead after the first quarter and controlled the scored 24-15 by halftime.

In the second half, Trail pacedBlue Ridge17-12 in the third quarter, and capped off the victory with a 20-10 run in the final minutes.

Blue Ridgewas led by Cardoza with 10 points while Sawyer Dearborn had eight and Pruitt scored seven.

On Tuesday, the Raiders jumped ahead 14-4 after the first quarter and toppedMountain View20-8 in the second to pace the Eagles 34-12 by halftime.

In the third quarter,Mountain ViewandBlue Ridgeeach scored 27 points, and after a 13-10 run forMountain Viewin the fourth, the Raiders took the win.

Dearbornscored a game-high 21 points and grabbed six rebounds for the Raiders while Pruitt had 17 points and Cardoza had 11 points and nine assists.

Nate Chipelo scored 17 to ledMountain Viewwhile Jake Chipelo had 15 and Joel Madas had six.

Elk Lake

TheElkLakeboys’ basketball team was handed a 69-53 loss atLakelandon Friday and a 62-54 loss at Lackawanna Trail on Tuesday night.

AgainstLakeland, the Warriors fell behind early asLakelandtook a 16-9 lead after the first, however,ElkLaketied the game up at 25 apiece by halftime.

In the second half,Lakelandused a big third quarter with a 25-6 run to take the lead and despite a 22-19 fourth quarter from the Warriors,Lakelandtook the win.

Matt Cuomo ledElkLakewith 12 points while Matt Woolcock had 10, Rob Heft scored nine and Ryan Wilson had eight.

On Tuesday in the first half, Trail got ahead 12-10 after the first and held a 27-21 lead over the Warriors by halftime.

In the second half, the Lions paced the Warriors 14-11 in the third, and despite the Warriors outscoring Trail 22-21 in the fourth, the Lions took the victory.

Woolcock had 22 points for the Warriors while Tanner Reyan chipped in 10, Heft had nine and Cuomo dropped in five.

Mountain View

Mountain View’s boys’ basketball team picked up a 41-38 victory overForestCityat home on Friday night.

The Eagles were put behind 9-7 by the Foresters after the first, but used a 14-7 run in the second to hold a 21-16 lead by halftime.

In the second half, Forest City struck back with a 15-5 run in the third, however, Mountain View’s 15-7 fourth quarter secured them the win.

Nate Goodenough scored eight of his 12 points in the fourth quarter while Jon Chipelo had 12 and Joel Madas scored six.

ForestCitywas led by Noah Fedak’s 18 points, including six three-pointers, while David Cavalieri scored 13 and Matt Nevins chipped in five.

Susquehanna

Susquehanna’s boys’ basketball team was edged out 89-75 byLakelandat a home game on Tuesday evening.

The Sabers fell behind 25-10 after the first quarter and after outscoringLakeland17-10 in the second, were at a 38-27 deficit at halftime.

After the half, the Sabers were paced 35-20 byLakelandin the third and despite outscoring the Chiefs 26-16 in the fourth, took the loss.

Andrezj Tomczyk scored a game-high 35 points for the Sabers while Cole Mallery chipped in with 16 points and Austin Cowperthwait had six.
