Eagles prep for season

The Mountain View baseball team is hoping to develop its young talent quickly and make an impact this spring.

Coach Ryan McAndrew said he hopes his young team will be able to contend with the top teams in the Lackawanna League.

“We are a very young team with some experience but not as much as we would like,” McAndrew said. “If we can develop at a quick enough pace we hope we can be in it at the end with Trail, Montrose and the like.”

After league play, McAndrew hopes the team will make some noise at the district level.

The team brings back to the diamond seniors Mike Wakalowski and Joel Madas, along with juniors Dylan Thomas, Jimmy O’Brien, Owen Flannery and Nate Goodenough and sophomores Colby Thomas and Zach Feduchak.

The team will use returners along with some new talent to fill in several spots left open by the graduation of seven seniors.

In the league, McAndrew said every team the Eagles face will pose some challenge to them.

But, McAndrew will rely on his nine returners to lead the Eagles to success.

Mountain View’s varsity baseball team is comprised of seniors Wakalowski and Madas, juniors Thomas, O’Brien, Flannery, Goodenough and BJ Beeman, sophomores C. Thomas, Feduchak, Heller, Noah Bepper and Brandon Hawm and freshman Chris White.

The Eagles kick off their season on Monday, Mar. 19, with a scrimmage atWest Scrantonat4:30 p.m.
