MV reopens superintendent search

BY ROBERT L. BAKER

The Mountain View School Board has reopened its search for a superintendent.

Board vice president Todd Adams acknowledged at a special meeting Wednesday night that following a previous deadline of Dec. 30, candidates were brought in for interviews, “but we just couldn’t work it out.”

Applications are now due to board secretary Diane Makosky by March 30.

Last fall, Andrew Chichura announced that he would be resigning as superintendent effective on June 30.

The special meeting Wednesday was called to give the school’s administration an opportunity to lay out what the district’s needs are regarding its students meeting graduation requirements.

The board is looking at dropping back one period to an 8-period day in 2012-13 as it considers whether it should fill some positions of persons who have announced their intention to resign by June 30.
