When Lee Maston arrived in the United States from Puerto Rico she came armed with several teaching degrees and a dream.

Her dream has come true with the opening of Bearhouse Day Care Center along State Route 171 in the Hallstead/Great Bend area.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Saturday, March 10, to mark the pre-enrollment registration.

According to Lee, her motto is, “children who play are children who learn” and she is offering a place where educational development is as important as having fun. This approach to day care will be accomplished with an additional six employees working with the five programs being offered for children 13 months to school age.

During the summer months, Bearhouse will offer a Spanish language program for pre-school children.

To achieve her dream, Lee said she had help along the way from Trehab ASSETS which provided the foundation for the business model and the Endless Mountain Day Care Center, New Milford which shared its philosophies.
Lee is hoping her “dream come true” will have a positive impact on the community as this corner of Susquehanna County has inspired her.
