Man waives hearing on rape charges

A Montrose-area man accused of raping a 14-year-old on two separate occasions earlier this month waived his preliminary hearing Monday in Montrose District Court.

Michael Holmes, 41, Montrose, appeared March 19 in front of District Judge Jeffrey Hollister. The case now moves on to the Susquehanna County Court of Common Pleas. He is being held on $100,000 bail.

Holmes faces two counts each of rape – forcible compulsion; involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 16; statutory sexual assault; aggravated indecent assault and corruption of minors.

The Susquehanna County Independent does not identify the victims of alleged sexual assault.

According to the police affidavit, an adult walked in on the March 10 assault in Jessup Twp.

The alleged victim was taken to Endless Mountains Health Systems, Montrose, where she was interviewed by police. The teen told police she had also been assaulted by Holmes on March 4 inForestLakeTwp.

According to the affidavit, the victim said Holmes had scared her into having sex with him.
