Finances noted as BR’s top concern

In a team-building exercise facilitated by President Laurie Bonner,Blue Ridgeboard members and administrators were asked to write down their biggest concerns for the coming year.

The budget was the top concern noted at the board’s Monday, March 26 work session.

With no official actions taken, the board reviewed agenda items for the April 2 business meeting.

Bonner also announced the board would be meeting in executive session after the meeting to review a proposed gas lease and discuss a land acquisition agreement.

Blue Ridgewill play host to the Pennsylvania School Board Association meeting for Susquehanna andWyomingcounties on April 18, at7 p.m.State legislators have also been invited to attend the meeting.

The board also discussed a “transition coordinator” position. Someone from the teacher’s bargaining unit would be appointed to address transition needs of special education students. Three class periods per day would be allocated to address the students’ needs.

Board member Shane Rumage expressed condolences on behalf of the board to theManchesterfamily at the passing of Cheryl Manchester who served as a teacher in the district for many years.

The next regular business meeting of theBlue Ridgeboard will be held Monday, April 2, at7:30 p.m.in the cafeteria, located in the elementary school.
