The man accused of sexually assaulting a boy two occasions five to seven years ago has been employed as an elementary teacher in theWayneHighlandsSchool Districtfor nearly two years.

Kyle Justin Cobb, 27, Union Dale, posted bail Monday as new details about the case emerged in court documents.

Wayne Highlands School District Superintendent Gregory Frigoletto said, “Due to the nature of the alleged incidents, Mr. Cobb will be suspended without pay indefinitely.”

Cobb is accused of raping a boy at a residence and farm in Clifford Twp. The child was between 11 and 13-years old at the time of the alleged incidents.

The victim is now 18 years of age and lives out of the area.

The Susquehanna County Independent does not identify the victims of alleged sexual assault.

The victim provided a written statement to police in which he alleged Cobb forced him to have anal intercourse and oral sex on two separate occasions while he was visiting Cobb’s family at their farm in Herrick Twp.

Cobb was interviewed by state police on March 24 at the Gibson barracks.

According to the affidavit, Cobb at first denied the allegations but later admitted to having oral sex with the victim in the hayloft of the barn. He denied having sex with the boy.

Cobb told police he was 19 or 20 years old at the time and attending college.

He also told police that on one other occasion he and the boy were riding four-wheelers on the property and another assault occurred.

According to the affidavit, Cobb told police he realized it was wrong and he then avoided the boy because he (Cobb) was studying to become a teacher and he was afraid the child would burn the property.

Cobb was charged with felony counts of rape – forcible compulsion; rape of a child; involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a person less than 13 years of age; involuntary deviate sexual intercourse – forcible compulsion; and two counts of aggravated indecent assault.

Cobb was hired as a teacher at Lakeside Elementary, part of theWayneHighlandsSchool Districtin Honesdale in July 2010.

Frigoletto said, “The district takes this matter very seriously and will fully cooperate with all investigating agencies throughout this ongoing investigation.”

The superintendent said the district was notified about the investigation into the allegations against Cobb on March 25.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for April 24 in front of Judge Suzanne Brainard in Clifford District Court.
