Adams gets nod to head MV board

TODD ADAMS

BY ROBERT L. BAKER

Todd Adams was elected president of the Mountain View School Board Monday night to fill the position vacated by the death of James Zick on May 10.

Adams opened the meeting with a moment of silence for Zick who served on the board for close to 29 years. The board authorized the advertising for a person to fill Zick’s Region 2 school board seat representing Harford and Lenox townships in Susquehanna County.

Tom Stoddard was also elected the board’s first vice president and Sondra Stine its treasurer.

The school board reviewed preliminary budget figures for 2012-13 with expenses budgeted at $16.7 million with a present deficit projected at $464,884.

The district is projecting a property tax increase of just under eight-tenths of a mill and that should provide an increase in revenue of $150,088.

The board did not adjourn but rather left open its meeting to resume May 30 at 7 p.m. to approve a final preliminary budget for the public’s review.

A final budget must be passed by June 30.
