ATV wreck claims man

A 47-year-old Simpson-area man was killed Sunday in an ATV crash in Herrick Twp.

Mario Cisneros was traveling south on Rt. 171, just north ofFiddle Lake Rd., when he lost control of the all terrain vehicle and traveled off the road into a field. The crash occurred at about2:38 p.m., according to the police report.

The ATV struck two telephone poles that were joined and in the ground used as a driveway border on the property and the driver’s side rear tire of a farming tractor that was located in the driveway area of a Rt. 171 residence.

After the initial impact, the Scrambler ATV became airborne and Cisneros was ejected from the vehicle.

The ATV came back down and overturned numerous times, hitting a rock in the backyard of the residence.

Following the second impact, the vehicle went airborne a second time and continued to overturn as it came to an uncontrolled stop in a wooden flower garden on the property.

Cisneros died while in transport by Medic 301 toBarnes-KassonHospital, in Susquehanna, for treatment of his injuries.

Tpr. Dean Ceccoli, of the Pennsylvania State Police, Gibson barracks, investigated the fatal crash.

He was assisted at the scene by Cpl. Jeffrey Burman, Tpr. James Hitchcock, Pleasant Mount Fire and Rescue, Medic 301 and Kozlowski’s Towing Service.
