Eagle soccer ranked fifth in nation

Following its historic run through the PIAA Class A playoffs, capped by its first state championship title, the Mountain View boys’ soccer team has been ranked nationally by MaxPreps.

Ranked No. 5 in the fall soccer season list, the Eagles (21-1 overall, 11-0 league) were behind Jesuit High School, Carmichael, Calif.; Jacksonville High School, North Carolina; Wesleyan Christian Academy High School, High Point, N.C.; and Marin Academy, San Rafael, Calif.

Upper St. Clair, which defeated Delaware Valley in the PIAA Class AAA semifinals, was the only other Pennsylvania team ranked in the top 10 nationally.

Mountain View concluded its state championship winning run on Nov. 16 with a 1-0 victory over Sewickly Academy at HersheyPark Stadium to earn the Class A title.

The Eagles also defeated New Hope-Solebury (3-2), Greenwood (5-2), and Williams Valley (6-1) on their way to the title.
