Teen faces gun at school, rape charges

An 18-year-old Kingsley man is in the Susquehanna County jail after allegedly bringing a gun to Mountain View High School in November, and also raping a 15-year-old on Dec. 21.

Court records say that William Robert Weida, who graduated from Mountain View in the spring, had broken up with a senior at the school two days before he arrived there around 3 p.m. on Nov. 28.

According to a police complaint, one student witness said he had seen a camouflage ‘long gun’ in Weida’s truck.

Another male student said that after driving into the school parking lot, Weida took out the gun from his truck and ‘pumped it,’ and the witness recalls Weida allegedly saying, “I am not afraid to use it.”

He then recalled that Weida put the gun back into the truck while he waited for his senior friend, with whom he then began to argue.

According to the complaint, the ex-girlfriend said she did not see a gun but was told later that he did have one with him.

She told police that in addition to the school parking lot incident, Weida also confronted her again in Lenox, but she fled from him.

For the incident at the school, Weida was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Suzanne Brainard on Dec. 21 on charges of terroristic threats, stalking, possession of weapon on school property, disorderly conduct and harassment.

He was also arraigned the same day on charges of rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, corruption of minors and indecent assault for incidents that occurred in Harford Township on or about Dec. 17.

Court records reveal that police investigated reports of an involvement by Weida with a 13-year-old Montrose Area student as well as a 15-year-old Mountain View student.

Initially, the complaint notes, Weida told police he would never “go with” a girl under 18, and suggested maybe they had lied about their ages.

After further questioning by police, he said he only “made out” with the Montrose student and “fooled around” with the Mountain View teen.

However, the latter student described to police incidents on Dec. 17 and Dec. 18, which went counter to what Weida had told police.

The alleged victim also said she never wanted to have any type of sexual relationship with Weida and only did so out of fear.

He faces preliminary hearings in both matters before Judge Brainard on Jan. 2.

Charges were also filed in Brainard’s court against Weida regarding an incident on Oct. 7, on charges of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property. No preliminary hearing date has been set in that matter.

Weida turned himself in to the Pennsylvania State Police, Gibson barracks, on Dec. 19, after learning that the Susquehanna County Probation office was looking for him on a probation violation.

Following his arraignments, he was remanded to the Susquehanna County jail on Dec. 21 on $75,000 bail.
