BY STACI WILSON

Although few Susquehanna County primary races were contested and voter turnout was light, several incumbent office holders lost out on their bids for reelection.

In the Mountain View School Director Region 3A (Brooklyn Twp.) race, incumbent Dava Rinehart-Cowan fell to challenger Jason Richmond on both the Republican and Democratic ballots (95-43 and 43-28).

Elk Lake Region 2 (Auburn Twp.) Diane Ives was bested by challenger Jack Sible who earned the GOP nod with a vote of 87-41; Sible, who cross filed and appeared on both ballots, also received 51 votes on the Democratic ticket.

In the Liberty Twp. supervisor’s race, challenger Alton Wilber defeated incumbent Ted Plevinsky, 67-17, in the GOP vote.

Incumbent Ararat Twp. tax collector Richard Cottrell was ousted by Nicole Stone, in a 34-22 vote tally.
Choconut Twp. Supervisor William Dovin staved off a primary challenge from two opponents, posting 62 votes in the Republican race. Challenger Wayne Gittoes received 13 votes and Ann Myczewski posted 3.
Incumbent Montrose tax collector David Cowell earned more votes than challenger Elizabeth O’Malley in the two borough wards. Colwell received 37 votes to O’Malley’s 19 in Ward 37-19; and in Ward 2, Colwell bested O’Malley, 34-10.
