Murder plea entered in shooting death

An Ararat Twp. man admitted to murdering his estranged wife last year in the driveway of his Way Lake Rd. home.

Donald Glover Sr., 52, pleaded guilty to one count of third degree murder Wednesday in Susquehanna County Court. He faces up to 40 years in prison for the offense.

Glover Sr. admitted to firing a single gunshot into the back of Sharon Glover’s head on Aug. 31, 2012.

His son, Donald Glover Jr., 28, also appeared in court, entering a guilty plea to a misdemeanor count of tampering or fabricating physical evidence in connection with the shooting.

Glover Jr. told the court he took a derringer-style handgun from his mother’s vehicle, fired one shot and then placed the weapon in her hand in order to make the shooting look like it was done in self-defense.

Following his own hearing, Glover Sr. broke down in tears.

“I’m sorry for all of this,” he said to about 20 family members who were gathered in the courtroom.

Family members tearfully embraced Glover Sr. as he was led out of the courtroom.

Sentencing for both men is scheduled to take place on Sept. 19.

District Attorney Jason Legg said there was no agreement for the length of the sentence for Glover Sr.

As part of the plea agreement, Glover Jr. is expected to serve a 24-month probationary sentence, Legg told the court.

According to court documents, Glover Sr. told police that his wife left him eight weeks prior to the shooting and was living with another man.

Glover Sr. reportedly called her and told her to come to the house to discuss financial issues. An argument ensued after her arrival that evening, and the elder Glover took a .38-caliber handgun from the house and shot his wife once in the head.
