Saber volleyball beats Forest City

The Lady Meteors volleyball team won 3-1 over Forest City in its home match Thursday to improve to 4-7 on the year.

Forest City won the first set 25-20, but Montrose responded with 25-17, 25-18 and 25-16 set wins to take the match.

Lacy Nealy had 12 assists and seven aces while Brianna Thompson had 11 kills to lead the Lady Meteors.

BLUE RIDGE

The Lady Raiders lost all three sets at Western Wayne Thursday and fell to 7-6 overall.

Blue Ridge battled in the first two matches but narrowly lost both 25-23. Western Wayne put the match away in the third set with a 25-12 win.

Kristine Carlsen had six kills and 15 digs, Chloe Randall had eight points and Katherine Kempa added 12 assists and nine digs for Blue Ridge.

ELK LAKE
The Lady Warriors lost 3-1 at Mountain View Thursday and dropped to 0-13 overall.

Mountain View took the first set 25-11 but the Elk Lake responded in the second set and won 25-12. The Lady Meteors answered right back however and battled to take the next two sets 25-20 for the win.

Mikayla Parrett had seven kills and Kelsey Caines added six kills in the loss.

FOREST CITY
The Lady Foresters lost their 3-1 match to Susquehanna Tuesday and lost 3-1 to Montrose Thursday to fall to 2-10 on the season.

Forest City took the first set over Montrose 25-20 but lost the next three, 25-17, 25-18 and 25-16.

Samantha Kuriger had six digs, five assists and six kills, Emily Stakun had 17 digs and Rachel DeLucy had 14 digs in the loss.

Susquehanna took the first set 27-25 but Forest City answered by taking the second set 25-21. The Lady Sabers would battle back however and take the final two sets 25-21 and 25-23.

Kuriger had eight points, 16 digs and seven blocks, Statkun had 14 points and 23 digs and Zoe Zazzera had nine points, 15 digs and eight assists for the Lady Foresters.

MT. VIEW
The Lady Eagles beat Elk Lake 3-1 at home Thursday after losing their match 3-1 to Lackawanna Trail Tuesday.

Mountain View won its first set against Elk Lake 25-11 but lost in the second set, 20-12. The Lady Lions answered by taking the next two sets 25-20.

Rebekah Tiffany had five aces and seven points while Jordan Bomershein had five aces and 13 points to lead the Lady Eagles. Sam Krisa chipped in with 10 assists and six points and Sabrina Fallon added seven digs in the win.
Against Trail, the Lady Lions took the first set 25-19 before Mountain View answered with a 25-21 win in the second set. The Lady Lions would respond by taking the next set 25-18 and the final set, 25-12.

Krisa had seven aces, six assists and 17 points while Fallon had 11 digs for the Lady Eagles, who are 4-9 this season.

SUSQUEHANNA

The Lady Sabers were close to an upset over Dunmore on Thursday but lost at home 3-2 after beating Forest City 3-1 at home Tuesday.

Against Dunmore, the Lady Sabers lost the first set 25-12 but rebounded to take a 2-1 lead after 25-22 and 25-19 wins. The Bucks responded to tie the match with a 25-10 win in the fourth set, and then took the fifth and final set, 15-11.

Nicole Barnes had 11 points, seven assists, five kills and five digs, Ana Smith had 16 points and five kills and Amber Dubanowitz had five kills and seven assists in the loss.

Against Forest City, Susquehanna took a tough first set 27-25, but lost 25-21 in the second set. The Lady Sabers would respond to take the next two sets 25-21 and 25-23 in the hard-earned win.

Sarah Serfilippi had nine kills and Smith had seven aces, 13 points and eight kills while Nicole Barnes added 13 assists and six kills for Susquehanna, who are now 7-5 overall.
