Dinners out on Saturday, Nov. 9, started with the Susquehanna Community Education Association’s third annual Community Dinner. Prepared and served by faculty and staff of the school district, this was the association’s thank you to the residents of the district. This free dinner is becoming an annual event for many, including senior citizens, young families and people who are alone. and reaching more residents every year.

Heading the committee for the 2013 dinner was Ingrid Hower, assisted by an cheerful kitchen staff, usually more at home in the classroom, and a wait staff assisted by a crew made up their children.

When the delicious ham dinner was consumed it was time to move on to the Susquehanna United Methodist Church where their annual roast beef dinner took on a new twist this year.

Due to the take over of the parking lot by the contractor for the Main Street project, the church dinner committee made the decision to make this “take-out” only. It was apparent this was well received as the committee was preparing more and more food when the late afternoon crowd arrived.A Christmas Bazaar was also offered along with baked goods, including the Pumpkin Bread and that was an epicurean’s delight.

The next stop on this food journey was the American Legion where Cub Scout Pack 81 was offering a spaghetti dinner, eat in or take out. This was also being well patronized evident by the lack of Main Street parking space.

Those who can’t resist a good Basket Raffle were not disappointed as the committee for this out did themselves -something for everyone.
