Two home invasion accused waive prelims

Two of the people charged in connection with the Jan. 13 home invasion robbery in New Milford Twp. appeared in district court on Monday.

Dylan Brewer, 20, New Milford, and Erika Major, 31, Susquehanna, both waived their preliminary hearings Monday. Charges lodged against the two will move on to the Susquehanna County Court of Common Pleas.

Charges have also been filed against Francis Muchanic, 31, Susquehanna, who was shot in the groin area during the robbery. Muchanic was reportedly still in the hospital at press time.

Police are still looking for Evan Hess, 20, Forest City, also believed to have been involved in the robbery.

According to police, the four went to the Braman residence on Creek Rd., New Milford Twp., at about 7:40 p.m. Braman answered a knock at his door, carrying a loaded 357 Smith and Wesson revolver. Muchanic, Brewer and Hess approached the residence. Braman told police that Muchanic said he needed to use the phone because of car problems.

Braman then noticed Muchanic was wearing a ski mask and attempted to close the door on him but the man forced his way in to the residence and began physically assaulting Braman and knocked him to the ground.

Braman told police he fired three shots, hitting Muchanic once in the groin area. Muchanic then exited the residence and fell to the ground. Brewer and Hess fled the scene on foot.

Major picked up Muchanic and fled the scene in her vehicle. She then called police reporting that Muchanic had been shot while attempting to assist a disabled motorist on I-81.

Major drove Muchanic into New York where the couple was met by police and an ambulance at a rest area.

conspiracy to commit robbery, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property; Brewer was charged with criminal attempt/theft and criminal conspiracy to commit robbery; Hess was charged with criminal attempt/theft and criminal conspiracy to commit robbery.

A warrant has been issued for Hess.
