The driver of a vehicle in the Labor Day 2013 crash that claimed the life of a six-month-old will not go to trial.

Zach Philip Larue, 21, Kingsley, pleaded guilty Friday in Susquehanna County Court to one felony count of homicide by motor vehicle and one count of aggravated assault by motor vehicle.

Jury selection for the case was scheduled to be held Monday, Nov. 3.

According to court documents, Larue was traveling south on SR 92 in Lenox Twp. on Sept. 2, 2013 when his vehicle crossed over the double yellow center lines and struck a Ford Edge SUV and a Volkswagen Jetta, both traveling north on the roadway.

Laney Johnson an infant passenger in the SUV that was struck, was transported by ambulance to Danville and died three days later at Janet Weis Children’s Hospital pediatric intensive care unit as a result of head trauma suffered in the crash, according to Montour County Coroner Scott Lynn.

Larue is scheduled to be sentenced by Susquehanna County President Judge Kenneth Seamans on Nov. 20.
