When the owner of NAPA Auto Parts in Montrose Pennsylvania prepared to start construction on a new building, they were advised that the building site may actually be part of Harrington Street, a now unused street running from Lake Avenue to Grow Avenue, next to Kost Tire and Auto.

The street is not indicated on any town maps, but is listed in the Kost Auto deed.

Montrose Borough Council members are looking into the feasibility and process of officially abandoning Harrington Street in order to allow the property to be developed.

The bid for two fuel tanks being sold by the borough resulted in one bid for both tanks by James A Walsh, Jr. at $75 per tank. The motioned carried to accept the bid.

Councilwoman Judy Kelly suggested the Montrose Borough Council join the Chamber of Commerce in order to be more informed and supportive of groups in the community. The cost is $50 a year. Council agreed to consider the proposal.

Dave Darrow of the Montrose Municipal Authority (MMA) proposed Rodney Birchard of Montrose to fill the vacant seat left vacant by the resignation of Glen “Pat” Ely. A motion to accept Birchard to the MMA board was approved by council.

Council member Judy Kelly completed a training for new council members and will be completing an online training to be certified for the National Incident Management System (NIMS).

The council is reviewing their records to see if other members need to complete that certification. The NIMS certification is required for all council members and supervisors.
