Two men were killed in separate weekend crashes in the county.

On Feb. 19, David Cavalieri, 21, of Vandling, was killed in a two vehicle crash on SR 374 at Plue Road in Herrick Twp.

Cavalieri was traveling east when his vehicle veered into the westbound lane and struck a Ford F250 driven by Lawrence Skube, 58, of Thompson.

Neither Cavalieri, nor his passenger 19 year-old Logan Drasler of Browndale, were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Both were ejected from the vehicle and Cavalieri was pronounced dead at the scene.

Drasler and Skube were transported to Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton, for treatment of the injuries.

Skube was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to police.

Andrew Mazza, 23, of Forest City, was killed in a Feb. 21 crash in the Barlow Road area of SR 2067 in Gibson Twp. when the southbound vehicle failed to negotiate a curve and went straight off the roadway, over an embankment and into a creek, just before 3 a.m.

The 2002 Ford Taurus landed in the creek upside down, according to police, trapping two occupants. Another occupant of the vehicle got out and ran for help.

Mazza was deceased at the scene. Johnathan Yacinovich, 20, of Waymart, and a 16-year-old female were transported to the hospital for treatment.

Pennsylvania State Police, Gibson, are continuing to investigate both crashes.
