State prison for driver in deadly crash

BY STACI WILSON

The driver who killed a mother of four last year in a crash on the North Rd., in Bridgewater Twp., will spend the next 4-1/2 to 11 years behind bars.

According to court documents, Michael Argust, 34, Montrose, had morphine in his system when his vehicle crossed the double line July 21, 2015, on the North Rd., Bridgewater Twp., striking Anne Gober’s vehicle in a head-on collision. Gober, 45, of Luzerne County, was pronounced dead at the scene.

In April, Argust pleaded guilty to felony counts of homicide by vehicle; accident involving death or injury – not properly licensed. He also pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of DUI: controlled substance; and a summary count of reckless driving.

He was sentenced last week to serve three to six years for the crash. But Argust was on probation at the time, and 18 months to five years was added on to the sentence from a 2011 charge.

Argust, who also sustained injuries in the crash, remained in a wheelchair at the sentencing hearing.
