County OKs additional renovations

BY STACI WILSON

The Courthouse complex will undergo additional renovations as plans to move the Montrose District Court office from the Old Jail continue.

The commissioners approved a change order from Johnson Controls totaling over a half million dollars for the additional renovations to be paid with Act 13 funds.

Commissioner Alan Hall said the changes were needed to meet state specifications for the new magistrates’ area.

Changes to the plans include additional stairwells and a “push out” of the building in order to accommodate the addition of two conference rooms.

The magistrate office will be moving to the area of the courthouse that has been housing the treasurer’s office and tax claim; the historical records department; assessment; and the district attorney’s office are also undergoing renovations this year.

The commissioners made reappointments and an appointment to the Northern Tier Regional Planning and Development Advisory Committee: Economic Development: Robert Neira, William Dovin, Bobbi Jo Turner; Local Loan Review: Joe Ferretti, Rick Soden, Keith Yurgosky; Rural Area Transportation: Rudy Mattes, Leonard Wheatley, Alan Hall; Election Officials: Hall, MaryAnn Warren, Elizabeth Arnold; Member at Large: Jody Place.

Members of the county tourism committee were also reappointed: Kim Ross, Michele Suchnik, Andy Aulakh, Gregg Confer, and Alan Aronowitz.
