Station House dedication held

Trehab Executive Director Dennis Phelps welcomed those responsible for the completion of the $1.8 million dollar project, Station House Apartments in Susquehanna, for a tour of the building and a dedication.

What had been planned as a ribbon cutting moved inside due to the weather.

Phelps told those attending, the project would not have been possible if not for the County Commissioners, the local banks, Federal Home Loan and other state agencies who provided the funding for not only a renovation of this once proud building built in the early 1900’s but for a rebuilding of a section that had crumbled over years of neglect.

With the completion of the project Trehab’s Workforce Development and Drug and Alcohol offices are located on the first floor with an elevator available to take tenants to the second and third floors totally renovated to modern, affordable apartments of the elderly.Prior to moving to the top floor of the building for the dedication and reception, a tour of the Trehab offices with introduction of staff was conducted  by Tammi Mowry, Workforce Development Director.

Besides County Commissioner MaryAnn Warren, Commissioner Leon Allen, Peoples Neighborhood Bank President Alan Dakey, Joseph Ferritti and Susquehanna Branch Manager Darlene Slocum, representatives from Penn Star Bank Bob Welch and June Sienko. Others attending were Susquehanna Mayor Michael Matis; Deb Valunas from Representative Sandra Major’s Montrose office; Alice Deutsch from Endless Mountains Heritage; and all those responsible for the actual completion of the project, Consultants Mullin and Lonergan, UpStreet Architects and Contractor Charles W. Grimm.

Mayor Matis, PNB’s Slocum and Deutsch spoke of the great investment in the community and how thrilled everyone is at the outcome. Slocum said Trehab has been supportive of all Susquehanna Community Development Association endeavors.

Commissioner Warren said she is proud to sit on the Trehab board and knows first hand what Phelps and Trehab have undertaken. “Trehab does projects no one else will touch,” Warren said.

All those who had a hand in completing this outstanding renovation were presented with a framed picture of the now completed Station House along with heartfelt thanks from Phelps and Trehab’s board of directors.
