Susquehanna man sustains major injuries in crash

A Susquehanna man sustained major injuries in a Sept. 26 crash on Rt. 92, Oakland Twp.

Christopher Cavanaugh, 23, was flown from the scene by Guthrie Air to Wilson Hospital, Johnson City, N.Y., for treatment.

Family members reported that he remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Cavanaugh was traveling south on Rt. 92 when he failed to negotiate a right hand curve and traveled off the right side of the road.

According to police, Cavanaugh was speeding at the time of the crash.

The vehicle hit a mailbox, continued to travel south and hit a utility pole and a tree. The vehicle became airborne and hit another tree and came to rest on the passenger’s side, facing northeast.

Police were assisted on the scene by Susquehanna Volunteer Fire Company, fire police and ambulance personnel as well as Barnes-Kasson paramedics.
