Fiery crash takes out phone lines

A fiery crash on State Route 29 in Liberty Township caused communication problems over a large area of the county.
The crash burned a Frontier fiber line causing phone problems on Friday, Nov. 11 into Saturday, Nov. 12, including the ability for residents to make emergency calls to 911 from the Lawsville, Hallstead, Great Bend and Susquehanna areas.

Those residents were advised to go to their local fire stations to report any emergency. Crews had the stations staffed and were aware of the situation, according to reports.
Phone service was restored Saturday afternoon.
Pennsylvania State Police had not yet issued a report on the crash, as of Tuesday morning.
The accident, involving a passenger vehicle and a tanker truck happened in the Lawsville Center area.
