Rt. 29 closed at NY line

Road repairs have closed a heavily used stretch of road in Liberty Township.
PennDot closed Route 29, July 23, near the New York state line to repair a slide that has undermined the road surface and created uneven driving lanes for years.
PennDOT District 4 Safety Press Officer Elizabeth Richardson said a portion of the existing road will be restructured to correct an embankment settlement.
Drainage in the area will also be addressed, as a part of the project, to prevent future settlement of the road and to improve the guide rail, Richardson added.
The work is being done by Kriger Construction and will cost $948,721. The road work is expected to be completed in early November.
In the meantime, detours have been put into place for trucks and cars.
Trucks should use Rt. 167 to Rt. 706 to Rt. 11 to N.Y. Rt. 20.
Cars are advised to travel Rt. 1022 to Rt. 1037 to Rt. 1033 to N.Y. Rt. 7A.
