Rape charges lodged against Montrose man

Rape charges were lodged against a 68-year-old Montrose area man Oct. 14 in District Court.

Roy William Camp faces 12 felony rape charges and one felony charge of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse of a child under the age of 16.

State trooper Craig Purdum filed the charges against Camp, who was arraigned Oct. 14.. Camp is being held in the Susquehanna County Correctional Facility on $100,000 bail.

Camp waived his Oct. 18 preliminary hearing in Montrose District Court.

According to the police affidavit, Camp admitted to have sex with the child at least 12 times over the course of four years beginning in August 2002 when the girl was 12 years old. The assaults reportedly ended in April 2006.

According to police, all of the assaults occurred on Camp’s Jessup Twp. property.
