Forest City’s Yale gets 1000th point

Forest City’s Katie Yale scored the 1,000th point of her career in a 57-38 loss to West Scranton in a non-league game at home on Saturday.

Yale scored 11 points in the contest as the Raiders fell behind to a 32-20 deficit by halftime.

After the break, West Scranton’s Invaders paced the Foresters 16-7 in the third and despite an 11-9 scoring run for the Foresters in the fourth, West Scranton took the victory.

Cassie Erdmann added 12 points for the Foresters while Carly Erdmann scored nine points.

Mountain View

The Mountain View girls’ basketball team lost its District II Class AA play-in game against Holy Cross on the road on Wednesday, 52-45.

Mountain View was ahead after going 11-10 over the Crusaders in the first but fell behind by halftime as Holy Cross paced Mountain View 16-8 in the second to lead 26-19 at the half.

The Eagles closed the gap with a 12-7 run in the third to trail, 33-31, going into the fourth where Holy Cross notched the win with a 19-14 rally over Mountain View.

Kayla Kazmierski scored a game-high 18 points for Mountain View while Olivia Zick dropped in 13 and Melissa Monahan had five.

Elk Lake

Elk Lake’s girls’ basketball team had its playoff hopes dashed on Wednesday night as the Warriors faced a 64-19 loss to Riverside on the road in a Class AA play-in game.

The Warriors were outscored 23-5 in the first and 18-4 in the second quarter to trail 41-9 at halftime.

After the break, Riverside continued to dominate as they paced Elk Lake 15-1 in the third, and after Elk Lake went 9-8 over the Vikings, Riverside took the win.

Elk Lake was led by Meghan Bush, who scored seven points, while Katie Mitchell had four and Mazie Tyler, Kenzie Moon, Elizabeth Benscoter and Taylor Watkins each had two points.
