Lindquist grabs bronze at junior high tourney

Blue Ridge ninth grader Cameron Lindquist wrestled his way to  a bronze medal in the PIAA District 2 Jr. High Wrestling Tournament at Lake-Lehman on Saturday.

He took a 1-0 decision over Wyoming Seminary ninth grader Paul Stefani in the consolation finals at 250 pounds.

He was one of only three Susquehanna County wrestlers to participate in this year’s junior high districts.

Lindquist opened the day by losing a 4-2 decision to Brett Havens of Nanticoke while Montrose Area’s Chad Swift also took an opening loss after getting pinned in 21 seconds by Coughlin’s Brian Gold.

In the wrestlebacks, Lindquist pinned Swift in 2 minutes and 34 seconds to eliminate the Meteor. He then took a 3-2 decision over Jake Vaxmonsky of Pittston Area to set up the showdown with Sem’s Stefani.

Also, at 85 pounds, Montrose Area’s Dalton Hogle opened his tourney day with a 5-0 decision loss to Michael Brown of Coughlin. In the wrestlebacks, Hogle took a 4-2 decision over Mike Canevari of Valley View before losing a consolation semifinal 2-0 decision to Zack Meckes of Hanover.
