New York man charged in child rape

Following a preliminary hearing Monday in New Milford District Court, child rape charges leveled against an Endicott, N.Y., man were bound over to the Court of Common Pleas.

In addition to a felony rape of a child count, Michael Joyce, 38, was also charged by Pennsylvania State Trooper Mark Keyes with aggravated indecent assault of a child under the age of 13; and a misdemeanor charge of indecent assault of a child under the age of 13 in connection with a Jan. 23 incident in Great Bend Twp.

Charges leveled against Joyce were bound over to the Court of Common Pleas.

The child was interviewed at the Children’s Advocacy Center, Scranton, and information regarding alleged incidents.

According to the police affidavit, the girl told the CAC interviewer Joyce had sexually assaulted her on more than one occasion and said the alleged actions by Joyce had caused her physical pain.

The child also told the interviewer that on one occasion Joyce had used his fingers to rub her in the vaginal area while she clothed.

According to the affidavit, Joyce told police in a Feb 17 interview that on one occasion he had inappropriately touched the child for a few seconds but stopped.

Joyce remains free on $50,000 unsecured bail.
