Rape charges move forward against Hallstead man

Child rape charges lodged against a Hallstead man were held over to the Susquehanna County Court of Common Pleas.

Christopher John Nabinger, 32, faces five counts of child rape; and five counts each of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 13 and aggravated indecent assault of a child under the age of 13 along with other sex related counts. All are felony charges.

According to the police affidavit, police were notified Jan. 12 by Susquehanna County Children and Youth Services regarding allegations made against Nabinger.

He was interviewed by police on Jan. 18. According to police, Nabinger first denied the accusations but later said there were a “few” times when he inappropriately touched the victim.

The child was interviewed at the Children’s Advocacy Center, Scranton.  During the interview, the victim related Nabinger would “cuddle” with her and had sexual intercourse with her on multiple occasions.

The victim also reported that other forms of sexual assaults had also occurred.

According the police, the assaults began in June 2010 and the last assault happened in late December.

Nabinger is free on $10,000 unsecured bail. He is not to have contact with the victim and is to refrain from committing any further criminal conduct against the victim.
