Mt. View tops Blue Ridge

The Mountain View boys’ volleyball team handed Blue Ridge a 3-0 loss on Thursday night in Kingsley.

The Eagles took a 25-23 win in the first game, before defeated the Raiders 27-25 in the second to make it a 2-0 lead.

Mountain View then capped off the victory over Blue Ridge with a 25-22 win in the third game.

Nathan Moyer had 22 assists, Brad Owens had eight kills and eight digs and Chuck Cross added eight kills.

Blue Ridge was led by Matt Principe with 10 assists, Tama Galu-Edgar with six kills and Troy Carey with nine aces.

Susquehanna

The Susquehanna boys’ volleyball team took a 3-2 loss at Tunnel Hill on Tuesday night from the Lackawanna Trail Lions.

The Lions took the first game with a 25-23 in before winning the second game 25-13. However, Susquehanna struck back with a 25-22 win in the third game and a 26-24 win in the fourth to tie things up at two games apiece.

Lackawanna Trail then closed the door on Susquehanna with a 15-8 win in the final game.

Taylor Cundey had 24 kills and six blocks, Alex Price had four kills and 12 blocks and Mike Frye had 30 assists and three aces for Susquehanna.

Forest City

Forest City’s boys’ volleyball team was handed a 3-1 loss from Lackawanna Trail at home on Thursday night.

The Foresters grabbed a 25-21 win over the Lions in the first game, before Trail would come back with a 25-22 win in the second set to make it 1-1.

Trail then defeated the Foresters 25-14 in the third set and 25-16 in the fourth set to complete the victory.

Chad Paulin had 24 assists and Dave Cavalieri had six kills and seven blocks to pace the Foresters.

Elk Lake

Elk Lake’s boys’ volleyball team was handed a 3-0 shutout loss from Western Wayne on the road on Thursday evening.

In the first game the Wildcats grabbed a 25-21 victory, before knocking the Warriors 25-13 in the second game to make it 2-0.

Elk Lake was then defeated with a 26-24 loss in the third game by Western Wayne.

Mark Smurkowski led Elk Lake with seven kills and eight blocks.
