Susquehanna County Conservation District’s seedling sale was held on Saturday, April 16, at the county’s recycling center with the profits going to support the district’s youth education programs, like the annual Envirothon. This year the sale grossed $15,263.
According to SCCD Director Jim Garner there were 7,023 items ordered by 175 individuals with volunteers handling the unpacking and order filling for a successful sale.
Most members of the Conservation District board of directors as well as their family members were among the volunteers who spent a very chilly morning helping those who purchased the seedlings by packaging the items and making many trips to deliver the seedlings to cars and trucks.
For the sixth year Norway Spruce was the best seller with people also ordering 274 blueberry bushes and 335 fruit trees.
