EMTC earns awards; annual meeting on tap

BY STACI WILSON

Endless Mountains Theater Company garnered several production and acting awards, presented earlier this month, in northeast Pennsylvania’s Tony award equivalent.

Each year, the Northeastern Pennsylvania Theatrical Alliance (NEPTA) recognizes excellence in community theater.

EMTC received 32 nominations and came away with four NEPTA statues.

Winners from EMTC included: Best One Act for “Gift of the Magi.”

Best Music Director: Amy Zakarauskas for “Wizard of Oz”

Best Youth Actress, age 12 and younger: AlexAndria Creamer, in the role of Dorothy in “Wizard of Oz.”

Best Teen Actress, age 13-18: Rebekah Harris, in the role of Miss Gulch/Wicked Witch in “Wizard of Oz.”

This was the first year NEPTA included the Best Teen Actress category.

But EMTC is not resting on its laurels. This year’s season will kick off with an Open House and annual members meeting on Thursday, Apr. 28, at 7 p.m., in the Great Bend Borough Building, located behind the Methodist Church in Great Bend.

At the meeting, the 2010 season will be reviewed and plans for the 2011 season will be announced.

The election of EMTC board members and the executive board will also be held.

Supporting members are encouraged to join EMTC at this meeting, but members and non-members are welcome to attend.
