EL volleyball notches two wins

Elk Lake’s boys’ volleyball team grabbed a 3-0 win over Mountain View on Thursday after it picked up its first win of the season at Blue Ridge on Tuesday night, winning 3-1.

On Thursday, Elk Lake took three consecutive wins, 25-16, 25-15 and 26-24 to topple Mountain View in three sets.

Mark Smurkowski had 10 kills ans even blocks while Chris O’Brien added 16 digs to lead Elk Lake. Dan Noldy chipped in with 17 points for the Warriors.

For Mountain View, Brad Owens had six kills and eight digs, Michael Lamberson had three kills and six digs and Austin Mack had seven assists.

On Tuesday, the Warriors lost the first game, 26-24, before storming back to take 25-18, 25-23 and 25-22 victories to defeat the Raiders.

Smurkowski had 16 kills and four aces and Jared berg had seven kills to lead Elk Lake. O’Brien chipped in with 19 digs for the Warriors.

Matt Principe had 28 assists, Mike Gathany had 18 kills and two blocks and Taylor Carlsen had six kills and two aces for the Raiders.

Susquehanna

The Susquehanna boys’ volleyball team took a 3-2 loss at home to Lackawanna Trail on Thursday after it picked up a 3-0 victory over Mountain View at home on Tuesday evening.

Against Trail, Susquehanna got ahead first with a 25-14 victory in the first set, before Trail would tie it up at 1-1 with a 25-23 win in the second.

The Sabers answered back to regain the lead with a 25-19 win in the third set, however, Lackawanna Trail took victories, 25-20 and 15-4 in the final two sets to clinch the win.

Taylor Cundey had 26 kills and eight blocks and Alex Price had 17 digs, seven aces and seven kills for Susquehanna.

On Tuesday, the Sabers topped Mountain View 25-23, 25-20 and 25-18 to notching the victory over the Eagles.

Cundey had 14 kills, eight digs, three blocks and 10 points and Price had seven kills, four blocks and seven points to lead the Sabers.

David Vales chipped in with five kills and Dylan Haynes had seven digs and three kills for the Sabers.

Chuck Cross led Mountain View with eight kills, seven digs and four blocks while Brad Owens had four kills and seven digs and Nathan Moyer added 21 assists for Mountain View.
