EL’s Lunger no-hits Montrose

At Montrose on Thursday afternoon, Elk Lake’s Holden Lunger fired a no-hitter with 17 strikeouts to lead the Warriors past the Meteors, 9-1, in a Division III matchup.

Lunger walked just two and allowed an unearned run when Meteor Mike Marz reached on an error, went to third on two passed balls and scored on an RBI groundout.

Warrior Nick Dudock went four-for-four with a homer, a triple and two RBIs, and Adam Phillips had three hits and two RBIs to back Lunger’s standout effort.

Elk Lake scored three runs in the first, one in the second, three in the fourth and two in the seventh while holding the Meteors to a single run in the fourth inning.

Montrose’s Jared Winn took the loss on the mound giving up 11 hits, four earned runs and two walks while striking out two over six innings.

Hackett had an RBI for the Meteors.

Mountain View

The Mountain View baseball team grabbed a 13-5 win over Forest City on the road Friday, a 5-0 win over Western Wayne at home on Thursday and a 4-3 victory over Montrose on the road on Tuesday evening.

On Friday, the Eagles scored two runs in the first before the Foresters scored one in the bottom of the first and two in the bottom of the third to take a 3-2 lead.

However, a run in the fourth tied the game up at three apiece going into the fifth inning where Mountain View brought in 10 runs to shut down the Foresters.

Nate Goodenough and Greg Adams each drove in a pair of runs and Dylan Thomas homered to lead Mountain View.

Julian Williams was the winning pitcher giving up no hits, no earned runs and no walks while striking out four in two innings.

For Forest City, Zach Mendoza had three hits, including a pair of doubles while Logan Fitzsimmons had a pair of hits and two RBIs.

Facing Western Wayne, The Eagles scored two in the second, one in the fifth and two more in the sixth while holding the Wildcats scoreless to take the win.

Mike Wakalowski fired a three-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts to lead the winners.

Colby Thomas had a double, and triple and three RBIs for the Eagles, while D. Thomas added a double for the winners.

Against Montrose, the Meteors got ahead early with a run in each of the first and second innings, but the Eagles quickly tied things up with a pair of runs in the fourth.

Mountain View then took the lead with a run in the fifth, before Montrose scored a run in the bottom of the inning to make it 3-3.

However, Mountain View scored in the top of the seventh to take the lead for good.

D. Thomas went three-for-four with a run scored and C. Thomas drove in two runs to lead the Eagles.

Williams was the winning pitcher giving up two hits, no runs and no walks over one and two-thirds innings.

Michael Hackett doubled for Montrose while Michael Rapisardi had a pair of hits and a run batted in.

Blue Ridge

The Blue Ridge baseball team faced a 9-8 loss at Western Wayne on Friday after it grabbed a 14-0 victory over Forest City in a Division III matchup at home on Thursday.

Against Western Wayne, The Raiders struck first with a run in the first, and took a 5-0 lead in the top of the second.

However, Western Wayne began to chip away at the lead, and after the bottom of the fourth, the Raiders’ lead was cut to 8-4.

And after a big, five-run fifth inning for the Wildcats, the team held a 9-8 lead which they would maintain throughout the rest of the game.

Blue Ridge’s Jacob Roberts hit a grand slam for the Raiders while Chris Zawiski had two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored.

Roberts took the pitching loss giving up five hits, five earned runs and three walks while striking out a pair in one and two-thirds innings.

On Thursday, the Raiders scored one run in the first, followed by six in the second, five in the third and two in the fourth to shut out the Foresters in five-innings.

Zawiski and Adam Gordon each drove in three runs and Devin Hawk had two hits and two RBIs for Blue Ridge.

Roberts was the winning pitcher for Blue Ridge giving up no hits or walks while striking out four over three innings.

Nebzydoski had the Foresters’ only hit of the game while Logan Fitzsimmons took the pitching loss in one and two-thirds innings of work giving up two hits and four earned runs.

Susquehanna

Susquehanna’s baseball team was handed a 19-1 loss at home by Lackawanna Trail on Thursday afternoon.

Trail got ahead quickly with six runs in the top of the first, before the Sabers would score their only run of the game in the bottom of the first.

The game was scoreless in the second inning before the Lions brought in 13 runs in the third to end the game by the 10-run rule.

Susquehanna’s only hit came from Nick Marco with a single, while Tom Maby took the pitching loss giving up 10 hits, 11 earned runs and a walk while striking out three over two and two-thirds innings.
