Blue Ridge grabs win over Eagles

The Blue Ridge boys’ volleyball team grabbed a 3-0 victory over Mountain View in a home match on Tuesday night.

In the first set, Blue Ridge posted a 25-19 win over Mountain View, before taking two consecutive 25-18 victories to seal the win.

Matt Principe had 17 assists, Mike Gathany had 10 kills and Tama Galu-Edgar had five kills for Blue Ridge.

Brad Owens led Mountain View with 10 digs and eight kills while Austin Mack contributed 15 assists for the Eagles.

Elk Lake

Elk Lake’s boys’ volleyball team was handed a pair of 3-0 shutout losses from Trail at home on Thursday and from Western Wayne at home on Tuesday night.

Against Trail, the Lions took a 25-17 win in the first set, posted a 25-18 win in the second and capped off the victory with a 25-7 win in the third.

Melvin Route had seven kills and 10 digs for Elk Lake in the loss.

On Tuesday, the Wildcats got started with a 25-19 victory in the first set, before posting a 25-12 win in the second and a 25-18 victory in the third set to cap off the night.

Mark Smurkowski had seven kills and Bo Bushnell added four kills and eight blocks to pace Elk Lake in the loss.

Forest City

The Forest City boys’ volleyball team took a 3-2 win over Mountain View on the road Thursday after it was handed a 3-1 loss by Lackawanna Trail on the road on Wednesday night.

On Thursday, The Foresters won the first set 25-18 before falling in the second, 25-22. However, the Foresters regained the lead after a 25-13 win in the third, before Mountain View evened things up at 2-2 with a 25-16 win in the fourth.

Forest City then capped the win with a 16-14 victory in the fifth.

Chad Paulin had 15 assists and 11 kills and Dave Cavalieri had 12 kills to lead the Foresters. Dylan Walsh chipped in with 11 kills and four blocks.

Mountain View was led by Chuck Cross with 11 kills and 11 digs, Logan Mack with 10 kills and eight digs and Nate Moyer with 25 assists.

Against Trail in the first game, Trail picked up a 25-14 victory over the Foresters, before Forest City came back to tie it up at 1-1 with a 25-23 victory.

However, The Lions grabbed a 25-15 win in the third set, and a 25-14 victory in the fourth to cap the night.

Paulin had 10 assists and six kills, Mitch Goben had nine assists and five kills and Walsh added five kills and five blocks for the Foresters.

Susquehanna

Susquehanna’s boys’ volleyball team took a 3-1 loss from Western Wayne on the road on Thursday evening.

The Sabers won the first set 25-20, before falling 25-10 in the second, 25-16 in the third and 26-24 in the fourth to face the loss.

Alex Price had 13 kills, 11 digs, four blocks and three aces to pace Susquehanna.
