Sabers overtake Elk Lake

Susquehanna’s boys’ volleyball team took a 3-0 victory over Elk Lake at home on Tuesday evening.

The Sabers overtook the Warriors in three straight sets, as the won 25-14 in the first, 26-24 in the second and 25-13 in the third.

Taylor Cundey had 14 kills, three blocks and two aces and Alex Price had seven kills, three blocks and five digs to lead the Sabers.

Bill Leinauer added nine points, three aces and one kill while David Vales had four kills and four aces.

For Elk Lake, Bo Bushnell led the way with three kills and nine blocks.

Blue Ridge

Blue Ridge’s boys’ volleyball team took a 3-2 win at home over Susquehanna on Thursday after it was handed a 3-0 loss from Lackawanna Trail on the road on Tuesday night.

Against Susquehanna, Mike Gathany had five kills and three blocks and Taylor Carlsen had six kills and one ace as the Raiders won the match in five sets.

Troy Carey added 19 digs for Blue Ridge, while Susquehanna’s Taylor Cundey had 16 kills, 12 digs and six blocks, David Vales added eight kills and four digs and Mike Frye had 34 assists.

Susquehanna’s Alex Price had eight kills, 12 digs and five blocks.

On Tuesday, the Raiders were defeated in three sets as Lackawanna Trail won the first 25-17, the second 25-22 and the third 25-16.

Matt Principe had nine assists, two kills and one block, Tama Galu-Edgar had five kills and Mike Gathany had three kills and one assist.

Forest City

Forest City’s boys’ volleyball team took a 3-2 win over Elk Lake on the road on Thursday after it was handed a 3-2 loss at home on Tuesday night from Western Wayne.

Against Elk Lake, the Warriors won the first two matches, 31-29 and 25-21, before the Foresters came back to win the second two sets 25-17 and 2518 to even up the score.

The Foresters then locked up the win with a 15-11 victory in the fifth set.

Chad Paulin had 12 assists and 15 kills and Mitch Goben had 21 assists and eight kills to lead Forest City. Dave Cavalieri had 10 kills and Matt Terry had eight kills.

For Elk Lake, Mark Smurkowski had 15 kills and 10 blocks, Chris O’Brien had 17 digs and 15 points and Jared Berg had seven kills, 17 digs and eight blocks.

On Tuesday, the Foresters lost the first set 25-22, but evened up the score with a 25-20 win in the second.

Western Wayne then answered back with a 25-17 win in the third, before the Foresters would again tie things up with a 30-28 win in the fourth set.

However, Western Wayne grabbed the win with a 15-11 win in the final set.

Chad Paulin had 13 assists and 10 kills, Mitch Goben had 11 assists and nine blocks and Dylan Walsh had 10 kills and 16 blocks for Forest City.

Mountain View

The Mountain View boys’ volleyball team faced a 3-1 loss from Western Wayne on the road on Wednesday evening.

The Eagles took a 25-22 win in the first set that was followed by three consecutive losses, 26-24, 25-23 and 25-20.

Brad Owens had 10 kills and 12 digs, Chuck Cross had six kills, 10 digs and eight blocks and Nathan Moyer added 26 assists.
