Local runners named all-region

ZACH KRUGER

Blue Ridge’s Zach Kruger, Elk Lake’s Mike Bedell and Elk Lake’s 3200 relay team have all been honored as part of the Scranton Times-Tribune All-Region Track and Field team.

Kruger, a senior hurdler from Blue Ridge, finished first at the Robert Spagna Meet in the 300 hurdles at 40.07 and second in the 110 hurdles at 15:43.

In the District II Class AA finals Kruger took gold at 41.04 and bronze in the 110 hurdles at 15.39. At the PIAA Class AA meet, Kruger was 10th overall out of 25 in the 300 hurdles at 40.78.

BRYAN GROSVENOR

Kruger is a two-time All-Region selection and was also a state qualifier as a part of Blue Ridge’s 400 relay team. He owns school record in the 110 and 300 hurdles and was a LTC Division III all-star.

Bedell, a senior mid-distance and distance runner for Elk Lake, finished first at the District II Class AA finals in the 1600 at 4:22.78, and the 800 at 1:58.69. At the PIAA Class AA meet, Bedell was seventh overall at 1:57.57.

This is Bedell’s second All-Region selection and is a member of the district winning and All-Region 3200 relay team and district gold-

medal winning 1600 relay team. He won a fourth-place PIAA medal as a member of the 3200 relay.

Elk Lake’s 3200 relay team that took district gold and fourth place at states is comprised of Sean Carney, Will Bennett, Bryan Grosvenor and Bedell.
