Red Cross opens cooling shelters as temps soar

Temperatures in the area reached nearly 100 degrees for several days last week. Tami Cortright, Susquehanna County Chapter of the American Red Cross and Montrose Mayor John Wilson handed out Gatorade and water to the crew working on Grow Ave. Cooling shelters were opened Thursday and Friday in Montrose andGreat Bendbut few took advantage of them. Pump N Pantry and Price Chopper donated the beverages used at the emergency shelters.
