Locals compete in Jackman Tournament

Montrose Area’s varsity golf team competed in the Jackman Tournament at Scranton Municipal Golf Tournament on Friday, finishing in seventh place overall.

The Meteors had a total score of 326 with Jordan Smith finishing tops tied for 11th place with a 76.

Finishing in first place as a team was Abington Heights with a 296, led by Dalton Coldwater with a 72.

Other Meteor scores included Lance Nealy at 81, Casey O’Reilly at 84 and Matt Sobiech and Mason Legg each shooting an 85.

Mountain View finished tied for 17th place with Lackawanna Trail shooting a 390 overall.

Top score for Mountain View was Tyler Salak at 85, followed by Chad Wescott at 92, Nick Sabuacak at 103 and Liam Maloney at 110.

Forest City took 20th place as a team in the tournament with a combined 400.

Top golfer for the Foresters was Seth Thomas at 93, followed by Vince DeLuci at 96, Sean McCormick at 103 and Brian Nebzydoski at 108.
