Williams Field Services is preparing to start laying the pipeline that will bring natural gas from wells inSusquehannaCountyto the Transco interstate line for market.

As the project moves forward, company officials say they will keep residents better informed about what’s going on in the Dallas Twp. part of the project.

The 33.5-mile pipeline, called the Springville Gathering System, will originate inSusquehannaCounty, run throughWyomingCountyand connect to the Transco – which Williams’ related company owns – offLower Demunds Road.

The tap into the Transco inDallasis complete and the trench dug to expose the decades-old pipeline is filled in, but the Springville pipeline has not been constructed yet, Williams spokeswoman Helen Humphreys said.

She said the company has removed vegetation from about 80 percent of the right of way, and is about 50 percent finished grading it. The company is currently boring underneath theSusquehanna Rivernear Tunkhannock as part of the route.

In the coming weeks, contractors will begin to dig trenches and lay pipeline in the right of way Williams negotiated with landowners. The timeline depends on the weather, Humphreys said.

In response to concerns by residents about the approximately half-mile distance from the Dallas district schools, Williams has received permission to construct its metering station, to measure gas going into the Transco, in Northmoreland Twp. instead of Dallas Twp. Williams has not yet applied to Dallas Twp. officials for the only components, the meter and regulator, that will be placed at the Transco tap site.
