Man found with narcotics waives hearing

A Montrose area man faces drug charges after police alleged they found more than 200 prescription narcotics in his possession Oct. 2.

Ian Ball, 24, waived his preliminary hearing Monday, Oct. 17, in Montrose District Court.

Ball was charged with manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver; intent/possession of a controlled substance by a person not registered; and use/possession of drug paraphernalia.

Ball also waived his preliminary hearing on burglary and theft charges stemming from an Aug. 29 incident in Dimock Twp.

According to the criminal complaint, Ball was a passenger in a vehicle police made contact with at the Emberz Restaurant on Rt. 706, Bridgewater Twp.

Police determined there was a warrant for Ball issued out ofSusquehannaCounty, as well asLackawannaCountywarrant for Benjamin Ball, 23, of Meshoppen, who was also a passenger in the vehicle.

Vehicle operator, Derek Stang, 19, granted police permission to search the vehicle.

The search yielded a glass pipe, which Stang claimed was his, according to police.

Stang was charged with use/possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police also located two, clear plastic bags and a pill bottle containing hydrocodone, a Schedule III narcotic. The drugs were found under the driver’s seat near the back of the seat.

Stang and Benjamin Ball both told police and provided a written statement that the pills belonged to Ian Ball.

Burlgary, theft and receiving stolen property charges were also lodged against Ball after a resident on Rt. 3001 reported to police that he discovered valium tablets had been stolen from his home and a window had been pried open.

The victim then searched his property and discovered that scrap metal had also been taken and told police he thought Ball might be responsible.

Police interviewed Ball Oct. 13 at the county jail about the alleged burglary and theft.

According to the affidavit, Ball told police he had taken scrap metal, batteries and radiators from the residence and sold the items at a Nicholson scrap yard for drug money.

However, Ball maintained to police that he did not enter the home, according to the affidavit.
