Susquehanna Community’s drama department presented “The Gazebo,” directed by Ms. Teresa Marino on Friday and Saturday evening, Dec. 2-3 in the Helen Gulley Auditorium.

The five major roles for this play, set in the 1950s in Nassau County, N.Y., were filled by not only SCHSseasoned actors but a newcomer to the Susquehanna stage.
Joseph DeLaPlaine and Liz Acosta portrayed Elliot and Nell Nash, the owners of the modest home that is the setting for the two act play; Lindsey Glidden as Matilda the maid; Sydney Avery as the real estate agent, Mrs. Chandler. Mead Hansen in the role of Harlow Edison, a neighbor who happens to be a district attorney, not only looked the part but also moved on stage and spoke like someone in the legal profession. Never before seen on the Susquehanna stage by this writer, he is a welcomed addition to the drama department.

While Mr. Nash is considering moving back to the city, his wife plans to have a gazebo built on a site that is visable from their living room. This addition make a great place to bury a body that is believed to have been shot by Nash.

As the tale unfolds it is learned the supposed victim really died of a heart attack and everyone is home free, except for the two, played by Derek Case and Rex Fullam, who were wanted for blackmail.

Others roles were played by Jon-Michael Marino, Jack DeLaPlaine, Rachel Serfilippi, Tristan Alleman and Cooper Quick. Joe “The Dead Guy” Shultz was played by Jeremy Acone.

It takes more than actors for a production to come to fruition and this one was no exception. Nick Chamberlain was stage manager with Kayla Marino and Ashley Kapcsandi working as stage crew. Sound was handled by Morgan Ofsharick and the lights by Susie Chamberlain and Tiara Leonard.

Also helping with the production were Tracey Marinai, Mrs. Kristi Rossi, Mr. Mike Matis, Mrs. Laurie Bomysoad, Mr. John Ord and Miss Alexandria Dominick.

Melissa Chamberlain and Robin Glidden along withSCHSArtDepartmentandSusquehannaHomeCenterwere also thanked for their contribution.
