The Forest City boys’ basketball team fell to Tunkhannock, 43-33, on Monday night in the finals of the Forest City Rotary Tournament.
Tunkhannock Area paced the Foresters throughout the first half with a 13-6 run in the first and a 14-7 run in the second to hold a 27-13 lead by halftime.
In the second half, the Tigers outscored Forest City 9-5 in the third, and despite a late-game 15-7 run from Forest City, Tunkhannock held on to take the title.
ForestCitywas led by Jake Fedak with 17 points while Dylan Walsh chipped in six points and Matt Nevins had five.
On opening night, the Foresters reached the finals with a 44-38 victory overWestern Wayne, led by Nevins who scored 11 and Vince DeLucy with nine points.
The Foresters pacedWestern Wayne10-7 in the first but saw the game tied at 22 at halftime after a Wildcat scoring run.
In the third, the Foresters paced the Wildcats 7-4 and then capped the win with a 15-12 fourth quarter.
Dylan Walsh scored eight for the Foresters while Nick Fedak had seven and Dave Cavalieri had five.
Mountain View took third in the tournament with a 46-35 victory overWestern Waynein the consolation game.
Joel Madas, who was also named to the all-tournament team, scored 20 points to lead the Eagles to the win.
Western Waynegot out to an early 10-8 lead after the first butMountain Viewtook over the court in the second to hold a 17-12 advantage by halftime.
In the second half,Mountain Viewpaced the Wildcats 17-9 in the third. Despite being outscored 14-12 in the fourth,Mountain Viewtook the win.
Adding points for the Eagles were Nate Coodenough with nine and Nate Chipelo with eight.
On opening night, the Eagles faced a 38-27 loss to Tunkhannock Area.
Mountain Viewpaced the Tigers 8-7 in the first quarter, but Tunkhannock paced the Eagles 15-10 in the second to hold a 22-18 lead at the half.
In the second half,Mountain Viewagain paced the Tigers, 7-6, but Tunkhannock dominated the fourth quarter with a 10-2 run.
