Conklin named Keystone Athlete of Week

Blue Ridge graduate Jared Conklin was named Keystone College’s male Athlete of the Week after winning the shot put at East Stroudsburg University’s DeSchriver Invitational this past weekend.

Keystone College sophomore Jared Conklin, a Blue Ridge graduate, was named Athlete of the Week, as he continued his impressive career in the throwing events for the Giants.

In an event with 48 competitors, about half of them coming from NCAA Division I or II institutions, Conklin tossed the  shot put a season best of 49-2.25, which was good enough win the event and beat second place by 10 inches, as Keystone competed at the DeSchriver Invitational.

The shot put was not the only highlight on the day for Conklin, as he also brought home fifth place honors in the weight throw. His top mark of 49-7.25 was also a life time best throw in this event by over three feet and a new school record.
