ADAM PHILLIPS

Elk Lake senior swimming standout Adam Phillips has been named Performer of the Year on the 2012 Scranton Times-Tribune All-Region Swimming team.

Phillips, a breaststroke and medley swimmer, won PIAA Class AA silver at the state meet in the 100 breaststroke finishing in 58.04, and also took fifth in the 200 individual medley at states with a 1:57.45 finish.

His berth to states was a result of a pair of gold medal finishes at the District II Class AA meet in the 200 IM at 2:00.11 and the 100 breaststroke at 59.49.

In the Lackawanna County Championships, Phillips took gold in the 200 IM at 1:59.62 and gold in the 100 butterfly at 54.47.

He is a two-time Performer of the Year and a three-time All-Region selection.

This year, Phillips set a Lackawanna County Championship record in the 200 IM, and he also won bronze as a part of the 200 medley relay team and silver as a part of the 400 free relay team.

In his career, Phillips had amassed four PIAA state medals.
