Thomas fans 13 in Eagle win

Mountain Viewwinning pitcher Dylan Thomas struck out the first five hitters he faced and struck out 13 in a complete game four-hit victory over Western Wayne 8-2 in Kingsley on Wednesday.

Thomas also ripped a homerun, a double and had two RBIs on the day.

The Meteors sprung out to a 2-0 lead after the first inning and paced the Wildcats 7-0 going into the fifth inning beforeWestern Wayneput one run on the board to make it 7-1.

The Eagles answered back in the bottom of the fifth to add their eighth run of the game.

Mike Wakalowski tripled and singled and drove in a pair of runs for the Eagles while Jim O’Brien added a double in the victory.

Blue Ridge

TheBlue Ridgebaseball team edged outForestCity6-5 in eight innings on the road on Wednesday afternoon in Lackawanna League Division III action.

Devin Hawk drove in three runs to lead the Raiders to the victory and picked up the pitching win giving up one hit, one earned run and no walks in two and-a-third innings.

Blue Ridge took an early lead over the Foresters with a run in the second, two in the third and two in the fifth to lead 5-0 going into the bottom of the fifth whereForestCitygot on the board to make it 5-1.

However, Forest City used a big four-run seventh inning to tie things up at five and send it into extra innings.

However,Blue Ridgeplated a runner in the top of the eighth and held offForestCityto take the win.

Vince DeLucy and Seth Thomas each had two RBIs forForestCity.

Forest City

TheForestCitybaseball team broke a nearly five year-old league losing streak on Tuesday with a 5-4 victory over Susquehanna at home.

Vince DeLucy went two-for-two with three RBIs as the Foresters took a Division III win. Their last league win was a 6-5 victory over St. Rose on May 11, 2007.

The Foresters fell behind as Susquehanna took a run in the top of the first, before they would score one in the bottom of the first and three in the bottom of the second to pace the Sabers 4-1.

However, Susquehanna made it a 4-3 game with a pair of runs in the third.ForestCityheld the Sabers scoreless and picked up a fifth run for themselves in the sixth inning.

Although Susquehanna threatened with a run in the seventh,ForestCityheld on to take the win.

Jon DeEsch struck out 11 forForestCitywhile giving up six hits and two earned runs in a complete game victory.

Matt Hardman-Zimmerman also had two hits forForestCity.

Jared Lawson, Austin Cowperthwait and Greg Price each doubled for the Sabers in the loss.

Montrose

The Montrose Area baseball team grabbed a 4-3 victory overElkLakeat home on Thursday after it took a 9-5 victory over the visiting Mountain View Eagles in Lackawanna League action on Tuesday.

On Thursday, the game was scoreless through the first three innings beforeElkLakegot on the board with a run in the top of the fourth.

Montrose answered back with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth, and grabbed two more in the fifth to take a 4-1 lead.

However,ElkLakeplated a pair of runs in the sixth to make it 4-3. But, the Meteors held offElkLaketo take the victory.

Mike Rapisardi drove in two runs and Nick Myers doubled and scored once to lead Montrose to the victory.

Hackett was the winning pitcher for Montrose giving up three hits with no earned runs and three walks while fanning six over five innings.

Adam Phillips had two hits, including a double, for the Warriors. Damien Dailey added a hit, a run scored and an RBI forElkLake.

Nick Dudock took the pitching loss giving up six hits, four earned runs and four walks while striking out 10 in five innings.

AgainstMountain View, Casey O’Reilly and Matt Lewis combined to go seven-for-eight with two doubles, two home runs and five RBIs to lead the Meters.

Montrose got ahead early with three runs in the first, beforeMountain Viewtied things up going into the bottom of the third.

The Meteors then scored five runs in the third and one in the fifth to make it a 9-3 game, and despite two runs fromMountain Viewin the sixth, Montrose took the win.

Bartok was the winning pitcher, firing a two-hit appearance over five innings while giving up three earned runs and striking out two.

Mountain View’s Colby Thomas homered and drove in three runs for the Eagles while Mike Wakalowski took the mound loss giving up 13 hits, six earned runs and two walks while fanning five in four-and-a-third innings.

Susquehanna

The Susquehanna baseball team took a 12-4 loss to Lackawanna Trail in a league matchup at Tunnel Hill on Wednesday.

The Sabers fell behind 7-0 after the first two innings, but put three on the board in the third to make it 7-3.

However, the Lions scored four in the fourth to make it an 11-3 game, and despite a run in the sixth from the Sabers, Lackawanna Trail took the win.

Susquehanna had a pair of hits and an RBI from Jared Lawson while Greg Price had one hit and scored a run.

Troy Maby took the pitching loss giving up eight hits and nine earned runs while walking four and striking out three in three and-a-third innings.
