A 27-year-oldSusquehannaCountyman admitted he put a gun in his dead mother’s hand in an attempt to spare his father from a murder charge Friday night, police said.

Donald Glover Jr., 38 Way Lake Road, Thompson, and his father, Donald Glover Sr., 51, same address, are both facing charges after state troopers arrived around 7:31 p.m. and found the elder Mr. Glover’s wife, Sharon Glover, 46, dead in the driveway.

At first, both Glover men told troopers that Glover Sr. shot his wife after she fired at him first, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed in the case. Troopers found a “derringer-style handgun” in her hand.

Glover Sr. told police that his wife left him eight weeks ago and began living with another man. He called her and told her to come to his house to discuss bankruptcy issues. An argument ensued after her arrival, according to the criminal complaint, and Glover Sr. got a .38-caliber handgun from the house and shot his wife once in the head.

As troopers questioned the men, Glover Jr. admitted he took the derringer from his mother’s car after his father killed her. Glover Jr. told police he fired one shot from the derringer and then put the gun in his mother’s hand in an attempt to make it appear she had shot at his father.

Glover Sr. also eventually admitted to police that his wife was unarmed when he shot her, the complaint states.

Glover Sr. was charged with criminal homicide and sent to Susquehanna County Prison without bail.

His son is facing one count of hindering apprehension/ prosecution and remains in Susquehanna County Prison after failing to post $50,000 bail.

Preliminary hearing information was not available Saturday night.
