Police are looking for two men who passed themselves off as cops Saturday afternoon and pulled over a Springville Twp. woman near Carl Teel and Carter roads.
The suspects are wanted for impersonating police officers.
The men were traveling in a white, Dodge Neon, with blue and white flashing lights on its dashboard when they pulled over Tonianne Smith, 23, in a false traffic stop.
They asked Smith for her driver’s license; requested she exit the vehicle and then conducted a search of the car’s interior.
She was then given back her license and was told to “Have a nice day” by the suspects.
State Police, Gibson, reported that no items were taken from the vehicle during the incident.
The first suspect is described as a white man, 6’5,” 180-190 lbs., thin build with black, curly hair.
The other suspect is described as a white man, 6’0,” 180 lbs., medium build, with black, curly hair.
Both men were wearing dark, navy blue uniforms with no name tags or patches but with a badge on the chest pocket. They were also wearing tan, Stetson-style hats, and tan belts. The belts were not gun belts.
Anyone with information is asked to call PSP, Gibson at 465-3154. Tpr. Dean Ceccoli is investigating the incident.
