Dimock discusses proposed station

Dimock Township supervisors held their reorganizational meeting on Monday, with all three supervisors remaining the same, Matt Neenan continuing as chairman, Gerald Ellis as roadmaster, and Sam Lewis as solicitor.

Esther Rayias will continue as secretary/treasurer.

The supervisors voted to approve a requested raise for Rayias as tax collector. The raise had nothing to do with her employment as township secretary, Neenan said.

Meeting dates and times were again set for the first Monday of the month for 2013.

Labor rates were approved for employees. A fee to be paid supervisors for attending meetings was also approved.

The supervisors were invited to the PSATS conference in Hershey, and Rayias and Neenan said they plan to attend all three days.

Several residents attended to express concerns about the proposed Church compressor station. During the December meeting, a discussion was held concerning paperwork received by the township for that compressor station, sent out by the Susquehanna County Planning Commission.

Residents expressed concerns about noise, air pollution, odors and the location of three compressor stations within a one and a half mile area. Several residents have been trying to get answers from Williams, but say they have not been able to get a response.

A resident on Monday said the planning  commission’s last meeting had the Church station on the agenda, but it was tabled.

Another meeting regarding it by the planning commission was to be held Tuesday, after this newspaper went to press.

The Church station is expected to have nine engines, about twice that of the Shields compressor station. The building will be rather large, also: 60 by 371 feet.

Neenan acknowledged receiving plans for the Church compressor station, but said that the only roles the township supervisors have involve sewer planning and a waiver request. He said that the plans included the use of portapotties rather than a septic or sewer system.
